Red Eléctrica is studying the implementation of the SRS (Secondary Regulation System, already implemented on the Spanish power system) in the electrical systems of non-mainland territories (TNP). The TNP systems have unique characteristics that prevent the simple transfer of the SRS as it is in operation in the Spanish power system. The most relevant characteristic in TNP systems is the frequency dynamics. This project develops a general model of a TNP system. This model is then parametrized for specific characteristics of different TNP systems. The parametrized model is then used to perform detailed simulations that allow designing the most suitable control system for the TNP and evaluating its behavior.
Layman's summary: This project includes the development of a frequency response model of a small isolated power system and the design of an AGC system that follows the structure of the SRS system in operation in the Spanish power system
Techniques employed: Simulations with Matlab/simulink of the behaviour of a power system in real time
